The UT Administration has decided to challan those school bus operators who fail to follow the norms pertaining to the installation of speed governors in buses from July 1. In the past, the administration has extended the deadline several times but now they plan to act tough with no more extensions.

The administration has already installed speed governors in all the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) buses. It wanted to extend this norm to school buses too, and the deadline set for the installation of speed governors was in May. This was extended twice due to opposition by the bus operators. The initial deadline set by the administration was December 1 which was later extended till March 20.

“The operators flouting the rule will not be spared after July 1. Earlier, they had been contesting the decision with the premise that when the administration could not install the speed governors in CTU buses, they can not force them to follow the same. This objection has been ruled out with the installation of the governors in all the CTU buses,” said Secretary, State Transport Authority, Vandana Disodia, and added that the STA will keep a check on the school bus operator, who fail to do the same.
