School notes: 11th Geofest and Nat Geo Olympiad

A team of six students from St Mark's Senior Secondary Public School, Janak Puri, participated in a series of competitions at the 11th Geofest International and the National Geography Olympiad held at City Montessori School, Lucknow.

The team took part in various events between September 8 and 11. An overall seniors championship trophy was bagged by the school for its outstanding participation. Tanya Gambhir of Class XII-C won the 2nd prize in Geo Talk on 'Laws related to environment should be fixed for all nations'. Rishi Suri and Sonali Jain of Class XII won the 2nd prize in 'Model Display' on 'Urbanization & changing landforms'. The team also won a commendation prize for 'Geo Talk'.

7th Delhi Scrabble championship 2012

Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, hosted the 7th Delhi State Scrabble championship 2012 on October 13. The Delhi Scrabble Training Centre, in collaboration with the Scrabble Association of Delhi, organised the event.

The Scrabble Association of India plan to identify students who can play the game in the national and international championships.

Close to 100 students from various schools participated in the event.

Students from Springdales excelled in all age categories. In Group A (age 8-12), Mohit Mohan and Ishaani Mukherjee won the gold medals, Saksham Gour won silver and Anavi Chander bagged the bronze medal. In Group B (age 13-15), Adit Ravi Kumar won the bronze and in Group C (age 16-18), Garima Tandon and Kunal Arora won the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. The Best Player Award went to Tanvi Binani from Convent of Jesus and Mary.

Annual day celebrated in St Thomas' School

St Thomas' School, Mandir Marg, celebrated its Annual Day for the Junior Section on October 12. As part of the celebrations, an exhibition was put up by the students titled 'Thomasites for Earth'. This was a move to promote eco-pedagogy and to sensitise students and parents towards pressing ecological needs. The highlights of the exhibition were the 'Green Bazar' and the 'Tod, Fod, Jod' stalls.
