Anti-cracker rally by Hillwoods Academy

An anti-firecracker rally was organised by Hillwoods Academy to sensitise students on how to respect their natural environs.The rally, held in association with the Department of Environment, gave a message urging everyone to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali and to say a firm 'No' to crackers. Universal Public School students joined the rally at old CBSE building, Preet Vihar. The students in unison motivated and urged commuters and residents to celebrate a safe, prosperous and pollution-free Diwali.

A skit was also conducted to create awareness and urged the public not to condemn children to work in hazardous fireworks factories and to give them a happy and safe childhood.

A message of peace from the US to Delhi

A seminar on 'Human Life and Peace' was held at Delhi Public School, R K Puram on November 7. School principal Dr D R Saini, vice-principal Shobha Mehta, headmistress Vanita Sehgal, Mamta Sharma, the education counsellor and Vandana Chandoke were present.

The lecture was delivered by Dr Robert Kittel, Director of Education of UPF-Asia, the Universal Peace Federation. He is also the founder president of Pure Love Alliance in the United States, an international movement for peace. He was accompanied by Dr Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury, Chairperson of Women's Federation for World Peace, India, and Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, India. Dr Kittel addressed the students and teachers and talked about the importance of the youth in nation-building. He stressed on the need to train young minds in the principles of altruism to instill a sense of responsibility in them and the value of selflessness. This, he felt, would go a long way towards removing corruption and other social evils. He explained his concepts through examples from various religions. He asked the audience to "live for others and sacrifice, without expecting any reward". He dwelt on the issue of emotional maturity, stressing the sanctity of human relationships and responsible sexual behaviour.
