On February 4, The Indian School inaugurated an exhibition of colourful paintings on the exploits of Maharana Pratap of Udaipur in the 16th Centuary. The 24th descendant of the house of Mewar, Maharana Arvind Singhji inaugurated the exhibition. The paintings were made by the artists of Udaipur and specially commissioned by the Prafull Foundation. It is directed by Francois Gautier, who is developing a museum of Indian Heroes in Pune.

Prior to the ceremonial inauguration, a panel comprising of our Chairman Prafull Goradia, His Highness Maharana Arvind Singhji, French journalist Francois Gautier and our Director Lal Raisinghani addressed the gathering.

The director of the school, Lal Raisinghani, proposed the vote of thanks. He commended the Prafull Foundation for conceptualising the exhibition and taking necessary steps in reviving the glorious past of Mewar.The exhibition is open to the public until February 23.

St Mary's School in Dwarka celebrates annual day

St Mary's School, Dwarka, celebrated its annual Day with great gusto and exhilaration. The Chief Guest for the day was Dr Biswajit Saha, Programme Officer Vocational Cell, CBSE. The occasion was also graced by Sumesh Shokeen, MLA, Matiala.

The function commenced with lighting the auspicious lamp and was followed by the invocation dance on "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam".

The programme included a delightful assortment of diverse cultural performances, offering the audience an enjoyable, visual treat. Some of these included a display with dumb bells and lazium, artistic yoga, a breath taking band performance, scintillating dance performances and mellifluous music. Sheelu Mathew, the school Principal, presented the annual school report, giving an insight into the school activities.

As the darkness descended, the students of classes IX and X lit up the sky with an enchanting torch drill, a wonderful end to the evening.

Republic Day celebrations at Banyan Tree School, Lodi Road

Banyan Tree School celebrated the 64th Republic Day on January 24 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The morning assembly commenced with the hoisting of the national flag followed by a spirited march past by the students of classes XI and X. Students gave inspirational speeches urging the student body to work towards its goals with pride and to always uphold the honour of their motherland. This was followed by a colourful dance performance and mass PT and aerobics display by the students. The beautiful and solemn morning ended on a high note with declaration of the winners of the march past.

St Thomas' students shine at Tod Fod Jod held at Modern School

Tod Fod Jod Mela was a mega event held at Modern School, Barakhamba Road. V Shankar and R Thomas, TFJ mentors of St Thomas' School with students of Class VIII participated in this mega event. Introductory talks by Samir Mitra, Head National Innovation Clusters, NInC and Neeraj Gualti, TFJ coordinator, spurred much excitement and curiosity in children.

Sam Pitroda, adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Information, Infrastructure and Innovation was present to see the Tod Fod Jod displays..

Pitroda with his team visited all the Joddis playsof schools and interacted with the school students. Thomasites were elated when Pitroda appreciated their TFJ projects and advised them to get patents on their TFJ products. St Thomas' School was awarded the certificate of appreciation for its pioneering efforts in igniting youth innovation. Certificate of appreciation and participation were awarded to the mentors and students.

Addressing students at the mela, Chairman of the National Innovation Council and adviser to the Prime Minister, Pitroda said that the TFJ initiative is aimed at school students from classes VI to VIII and is eliciting quite a response.

The mela concluded with a vote of thanks by Lata Vaidyanathan, Principal of Modern School, Barakhamba Road.

Plant a butterfly art competition at Apeejay School, Pitampura

Apeejay School in Pitampura organised an art competition based on the theme 'Nomads of India', focusing on the butterflies found in Delhi under the project 'Plant a Butterfly'.

This unique project aims to elevate the campaign in raising awareness about conservation and protection of butterflies.

Under the guidance of Edith Flores Wolff of Germany, it aims to send the message across that butterflies and plants need each other.

A splash of colours filled the empty space and a panoramic view was brought alive by the young painters depicting the diversity of nature expressed through colourful butterflies of Delhi painted by them.

This inter-house competition not only gave a chance to each child to express himself or herself through colours, but also helped them in becoming sensitive to the need to conserve butterflies.
