Scribe murdered in Kanpur,employee under scanner

According to the police,Gupta’s body was found lying at the back seat of his Maruti Zen (UP 78 S 6754) car in Ratan Lal Nagar on Sunday morning.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Gupta’s hands and legs were found broken. He was repeatedly stabbed with a screw driver and his head was bludgeoned with a heavy object. 

Sanjay Kumar,Station Officer of Govind Nagar said that the body was draped with a sheet of cloth.

“The postmortem has confirmed that he had been repeatedly stabbed with a screw driver,” said Kumar. There were more than 10 injury marks on his body.

The assailants robbed two mobile phones,revolver and Gupta’s driving license.

Gupta’s younger brother,Prabhat,has registered a murder case against one Kanika Grover and three others at Govind Nagar police station. Grover is a new reader in CNN news channel and was Gupta’s friend. The police have already started the investigation.

But Grover and her family members are reportedly untraceable. 

Local reporters blocked traffic movement outside Govind Nagar police station and the postmortem house,and demanded the immediate arrest of the assailants.

A reporter working for CNN news,Monu,said Gupta had gone to Ratan Lal Nagar area to drop Grover on Saturday evening. “Gupta left around 7 pm and did not return. We tried to contact him on his mobile but it was switched off,” he said.

On Sunday morning,Gupta’s car was found 500 metres away from Kanika’s residence. Locals claim that the car had been parked there since Saturday evening. 

Prabhat alleged that Kanika with the help of some other persons had got his brother murdered.

“Kanika’s father,Rajendra Grover,is an auto-lifter who was arrested around two months ago from the Barra area,” he said. Rajendra is currently lodged in Kanpur District Jail. Gupta reportedly played a role in Rajendra’s arrest.

Prabhat further stated that his brother was not pleased with Kanika’s work and had sacked her some time ago.  “After repeated requests my brother employed Kanika again. By killing him, she wanted to avenge her father’s arrest and also her humiliation on getting sacked,” he added.

According to Hari Ram Sharma,Deputy Inspector General of Kanpur,the case will be worked out at the earliest.

“Blood stains were found Kanika’s wall. The mysterious absence of the entire Grover family indicates of their involvement,” he said.

A few of Kanika’s relatives were brought to Govind Nagar police station for interrogation. “Rajendra has also been questioned in the District jail,” said Sharma.
