Scrutiny of old age pension recipients on,state tells HC

A public interest litigation filed by Dr Sandeep Gupta came up for resumed hearing before the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

A public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Dr Sandeep Gupta (of Talwandi Sabo) today came up for resumed hearing before the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The petitioner had sought directions to the Punjab Government against re-starting old age pension to all those persons who were found ineligible for such pension on the basis of scrutiny conducted earlier in response to a Cabinet decision.

Gurkirat Kirpal Singh,Director Social Security,Punjab,in his affidavit,copies whereof were supplied to Advocate HC Arora,counsel for the petitioner,has stated that in pursuance of the Cabinet decision of July 16,2008,all DCs were directed to set up committees under them for scrutinising cases of old age pension-beneficiaries.
