The chairman of the UP Madhyamik Shiksha Sewa Chayan Board (Secondary Education Services Selection Board) was roughed up by two members of the Board in his chamber in Colonelganj area of the city on Friday. An FIR,naming two Board members and some other persons,has been registered at Colonelganj police station in this connection. The Secretary of the Board,Sheshmani Pandey,said: A meeting of the Board will be held on the matter and the next course of action shall be decided. He refused to comment further. According to police,the FIR was registered this afternoon following a complaint from R P Verma,Chairman of the Board. In his complaint,the Chairman has alleged that nearly 40 to 50 people,wearing black coats,and two Board members barged into his office and roughed him up. He also said they used caste-specific remarks against him. An FIR has been registered under the SC/ST Act,along with various sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to obstructing a public servant in discharging his duty and causing injuries. The matter is being investigated,said Circle Officer (Zone-IV),Arun Dikshit. Following the incident,the District Magistrate - Alok Kumar - also reached the spot. Kumar said appropriate legal action would be taken against the guilty. Narrating the incident,Verma said,They also used unparliamentary remarks along caste lines and beat me up, said Verma. He further alleged that the two Board members - Dr Satish Dubey and Dr Keshri Nandan Mishra - had also threatened him with dire consequences on Wednesday. They are responsible for todays incident, he said. Mishra,however,said he was not present at the spot. I was busy with another case. When I came out,I was informed about the incident. Yesterday,the Chairman had talked to an advocate rudely and they may have tried to approach him on the issue, said Mishra. Mishra nevertheless conceded that there were serious differences between him and the Chairman over checking of the answersheets of Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) examination. There is a court order that the OMR answersheets should be crosschecked against the carbon copies before finally announcing the results. However,the Chairman was not agreeing, said Mishra.
