While the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) intensified the hunt for two persons who planted bombs, Ramji Kalsangra and his accomplice Samir Dange, they detained at least two people allegedly involved in the Malegaon blasts.

Surat resident Sunil Dhawadi, a member of the Indore-based Hindu Jagran Manch, and Pune-based Anil Mahajan have been picked up by the ATS.

Investigating agencies have also started probing if Lt Col Srikant Prasad Purohit, the Army officer arrested in the Malegaon case, was involved in other blasts.

Earlier this week, in a remand application filed in the Nashik Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court seeking his custody, the ATS said security agencies needed to probe if Purohit was involved in any other blasts.

On Friday, officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is investigating the Nanded blast of April 2006, visited the ATS office in Mumbai.

In April 2006, a pipe bomb had exploded in the house of a retired PWD executive engineer, Laxman Rajkondwar, in Nanded. Investigations revealed that the dead and the injured were all active workers of the Bajrang Dal. Diaries and other documents seized from the residence of the accused also exposed their associations with the Bajrang Dal, the RSS and the VHP.

“Purohit’s possible involvement in training the accused in previous blasts such as the one in Nanded is also being probed,” said special ATS counsel Ajay Misar.

The remand application also states that following the arrest of Pragya Thakur, Purohit sent a message to co-accused Sameer Kulkarni instructing him to delete his number from his phone, and not to reply to the message and to leave Bhopal immediately.

Terror investigationBy: Manoj Thakur | 08-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Let there be some decency when criticism is made of a person. An enquiry has been made to prevent army from becoming B team of BJP. True face of BJp is coming out as it says this is a sponsored investigation. When investigations go against muslim youth they are not sponsored. There is no defence from the bjp a supposedly nationalist party. BJP is not a private party or property. It cannot behave in this diabolic fashion. Blast victims must get justice irrespective of religion and aggressors must face death, whatever religion. If people think otherwise with poisonous thoughts of hatred then a secular state goes to dustbin. A state is as good as its citizens. Where on earth congress is against hindus. This is one question which is unfathomable. They are simply against muslims is the truth. They have kept them like animals always licking their boots without doing anything for them for past 62 years. So if innocent muslims are killed there should be no probe.
ARMY InquiryBy: zak | 08-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Well done Indian Police finally you are able to see the truth behind the real fact and arrest few culprits who perpetuate violence and terror in India.Shame on our Army. I hope all those who do such acts and hide behind the banner or religion ,power and money should be eventually brought to justice. Now we know who is actually behind hidden terror.
Don't blame the entire armyBy: IE reader | 09-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Dear Zak,We shouldn't be blaming the entire army for the mischief of a few person. I believe Indian army has been doing a commanding job ever since our independence.
SDBBy: WD | 08-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward it's election time, so conspiracy time against hindus by the congress government, for the investigations r unusually fast this time. and this bloody fool anthony is hell bent on painting army black, which is the most unpolitical (though greatly bureaucratised) on this land of bloody fools like manmohan and anthony, not to talk about yechury.
