The Sector-40 Residents Welfare Association MIG-I houses has expressed concern over the civic conditions in the sector. The members rue that naked electricity wires, absence of streetlights and bad condition of parks and greenbelts, which are some of the issues not addressed on regular basis.
“Benches and railings are either in dilapidated condition or have been stolen. Congress grass or parthenium weed is flourishing. Pruning of trees as well and maintenance of the plants is needed,” said a resident.
There are large numbers of electricity cables and open junction boxes which pose a serious danger to the security of residents.
Apart from these, drains always remain choked. There are large number of broken roads, uncovered trenches and non-functional streetlights. Electricity poles installed in the greenbelt are without any bulbs while lights installed in these parks seldom work.
Senior vice-president of the association, S K Khosla, rued that the department swung into action only after fatal incidents happen as had been many in the past. “Because of these open infirmities, some fatal incidents may take place any time. Safety and security of the citizens, which is the paramount duty of the state, is on the peril because of apathetic attitude of the staff concerned,” he added. The members add that the condition of roads in the sector is pathetic causing serious accidents.
During the rainy season, water-logging in front of the houses is a common. Construction waste gets piled up, as it is not removed regularly.
