Following a threat mail, security around the police commissioner’s office has been tightened further. Top oficers are constantly monitoring the arrangements, even at night. Officers have been allotted different days to supervise night security.

Twelve terror suspects have already been arrested. Vehicles passing by are not being allowed to pause opposite the commissionerate.

An officer said, “Constables at the gate have been given automatic and semi-automatic weapons. The number of guards will go up in a week.”

Brig RJ Sharma, Sub Area Commander of the Army’s Pune region, said, “Next week, we will step up our arrangement with the police to train police constables in handling automatic weapons.”

The police are planning to install CCTVs at three gates of the office.
