The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, directing Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh to move a fresh representation before the state Government regarding his security cover, disposed of the writ petition he had filed in this connection.
The Bench, comprising Justice Sanjay Mishra and Justice Rajeev Sharma, asked Singh to mention his grievances, threat perceptions and requirements relating to his security cover in his application and file it before the Government within a week.
The court also directed the Uttar Pradesh Government to get Singh’s representation reviewed by state and Central Intelligence agencies before making any fresh consideration on the same. The Bench asked the Government to carefully consider the guidelines issued by the Allahabad Bench of the HC in a case related to the security cover.
Meanwhile, extending its own interim order, the court extended Singh’s Z security cover for two more weeks. A similar order was passed on another writ petition filed by Samajwadi Party MP Akshay Pratap Singh from Pratapgarh.
Imposter nabbed at SP leader’s house
NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh on Monday laid a trap at his house and nabbed a person, who promised Singh a favourable verdict in the disproportionate assets case for Rs 5 crore. B K Verma—who claimed to be close to Union Law Minister Hans Raj Bhardwaj and Supreme Court Judge A R Lakshamanan, hearing the disproportionate assets case—has been contacting Singh since past 3-4 months. While handing him over to the Delhi Police, the Amar Singh demanded a probe to unearth the “nefarious and evil designs” that were being executed by Verma. Presenting the person to the media, Singh said: “This man, BK Verma, has been calling my office and saying that he is a senior law officer with the Government of India. He claimed connections with Union Law Minister Hans Raj Bhardwaj and Justice AR Lakshamanan.”
