A day after Patna police arrested a dismissed Armyman for his alleged links with Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), the Border Security Force and intelligence agencies in Kutch are on alert. Sensitive military documents pertaining to troop and weapons deployment on the western border of Gujarat were reportedly found from the man’s possession.
This is the second such incident in two years when an alleged ISI agent was arrested from Kutch. Earlier in 2007, the Kutch police had arrested two Pakistani nationals and their two Indian links.
Sources said the Kutch police have also learnt from their counterparts in Bihar that the alleged ISI agent, Sudhanshu Sudhakar, had visited Bhuj in April. The police top brass in Kutch maintained that he had reportedly met three men with army links during his stay in Bhuj.
“It is learnt that Sudhakar had stayed at the Raj Guest House in Bhuj for a couple of days in April. He may have possibly visited some other areas,” said a senior police officer.
The police also said that he had stayed in Bhuj with an accomplice, and is suspected to have used his past military connection to get in touch with men connected with the army at its Bhuj campus.
The Patna police had found a bill of the guest house and sensitive documents including military maps, plans, and details of troop and weapons deployment on the western sector, especially in Gujarat.
In February 2007, the Kutch police had arrested two Pakistani nationals. One of them was identified as Adil Anjum Nazir Ahmed Batti alias Yakub Haladi. Two Indian agents engaged by the ISI were also held.
