Rejecting the Congress demand for an inquiry into the alleged illegal snooping,Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said on Wednesday that providing security and protection is not snooping. Stating that the father of the woman is not complaining,Jaitley said,But the Congress is concerned about this. This shows there is political interest in the subject rather than facts. The basis of the case is in itself wrong. In a reference to suspended IPS officer G L Singhal,Jaitley said,When the phone of a state home minister can be tapped without following procedures,none of these politicians who are concerned now raise questions. But if a woman and her father asked for security,people are objecting. Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said the Congress should stop resorting to shameless politics as there may be skeletons in its own cupboard. After reading the heartrending letter of the father (of the girl) to the National Commission for Women,any sensible person will stop discussing the issue, said Javadekar.
