Seminar held at Malwa College

A seminar on the 'Concept of Co-existence in Gurbani in the Contemporary Context' was organised on Thursday at Malwa College Bondli-Samrala in collaboration with Punjabi Sahit Academy.

A seminar on the ‘Concept of Co-existence in Gurbani in the Contemporary Context’ was organised on Thursday at Malwa College Bondli-Samrala in collaboration with Punjabi Sahit Academy,Ludhiana. Dr Jodh Singh,professor at Punjabi University,Patiala,delivered the keynote address,while the seminar was presided over by Dr Jagbir Singh,professor at Delhi University. Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa was the chief guest.

Jaswant Zafar; Dr S S Dusanjh; Prof Jagdish Singh,Director Nad Pargas; Dr Malkit Singh Bajwa,PU; and Dr Gurpal Singh Sandhu of PU were also present. Delivering his keynote address,Dr Jodh Singh said the process of dialogue initiated by Guru Nanak is the key to a stable pluralistic society. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said gurbani presents a subtle social message against intolerance.

Jagjiwan Singh Khirnia,MLA Samrala,was of the view that gurbani does not differentiate between races,religions and regions. Dr Gurbhajan Singh Gill,president of Punjabi Sahit Academy,in his address said gurbani accepts diversity while preaching unity and oneness of God. Dr Sukhdev Singh Sirsa,general secretary of Punjabi Sahit Academy said the model of multi-culturalism,which is so vital for global peace and stability,was delivered to the world in 1604 AD in the form of Guru Granth Sahib,in which the verses of saints and dervishes of different religions,races and regions have been treated equally. Balbir Singh Rajewal,president,Malwa Education Council,said in his address that tolerance,equality and unity of God is the central concept in gurbani.
