Seminar on female foeticide concludes

  • A two-day seminar-‘Female Foeticide: Role of Society and Technology’ -organised by the department of Social Work of the Punjabi University in collaboration with the ICSSR (North Western) Regional Centre Chandigarh, ended on Saturday.

    Harsimrat Kaur Badal, wife of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, said, “Every fifth household in Punjab commits female feoticide.”

    Punjabi University vice-chancellor Jaspal Singh said the Akal Takht Sahib, the supreme seat of Sikh religion, has already issued directives against the practice of female foeticide.

    Tulsi Patel, a professor in Sociology from Delhi University, asserted on the need to eradicate the menace.
