  • The Noida police, along with a Special Operations Group from Etah, allegedly picked up a senior citizen from Abul Fazal Enclave in Okhla when he was coming out from a mosque after offering prayers on Saturday. His family has alleged that Haji Aas Mohammed (75) was shoved into a Tavera and taken to Noida, where he was beaten up.

“He had to be referred to Escorts Hospital,” a family member said. His family are alleging that the Noida police as well as the SOG from Etah are involved in the matter. Sources said Aas Mohammed was picked up around 2 pm and was taken to the police post of Sector 60 for interrogation. The police, however, refused to speak on the issue.

“We received a call from the Noida police informing us that our uncle had suffered a cardiac arrest and was admitted in Sumitra Hospital in Sector-35. When we reached there, the doctors referred him to Escorts,” Tahir, the victim’s nephew, said. The victim’s family gheraoed the police post late on Saturday and demanded an explanation. SP (City) Ashok Tripathi, when contacted, said a meeting over the issue is going on with senior authorities.
