  • Banerjee could also be drawing thick lines of separation from the Lalu ministry — to Nitish Kumar’s evident interest — for reasons of local Bengal politics. The first UPA government was, after all, supported by the Left parties. Ironically, as charges are traded between the current railway minister and her predecessor, the case is made stronger for the corporatisation of the Indian Railways.

Nice display of democratic debatedBy: Naim Naqvi | 10-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward It was interesting and reassuring to watch the intelligent debate in Lok Sabha. Lalu and Mamta both maintained the decorum and dignity of the house. They were subjective, humourous, poetic and cleverly sarcastic which are the attributes of intelligent politicians. This was poles parts when we watch these saffron brigadiars spewing vitriol and venom and talking nothing but divisive and nefarious politics. I would say - democracy was it best when Mamata and Lalu delivered their speeches. Keep it up. We want more of such debates.
