Manish Gupta,who wrote Sarkar,is all set to debut as a director with Hostel. The movie focusses on a student,Vatsal Seth,who enters a notorious hostel and is ragged by his seniors. “There are many suicides in Indian hostels due to ragging wherein students are beaten,stripped,tortured,molested and even raped by their seniors. Since victims find it humiliating to report sexual abuse to their parents or others,most ragging-related crimes go unreported. Hostel deals with this serious issue. Through this hard-hitting film,I want to show what actually a victim of ragging goes through,” says Gupta. The movie also stars Tulip Joshi and Mukesh Tiwari.
