Seven killed in Tibet

At Galingang Village,one of the worst hit in the quake,all 156 houses were reportedly damaged,leaving villagers homeless.

At least seven people were killed and 22 injured in Tibet as the earthquake that hit Sikkim and other Northeastern states in India also rocked the Chinese autonomous province,leaving a trail of destruction.

The earthquake has caused hundreds of landslides that have disrupted traffic,power and water supplies,as well as telecommunication in Yadong County,Tibet,which is 40 km from Sikkim,the epicentre of the 6.8-magnitude quake.

The local authorities in Xigaze Prefecture,which administers Yadong,had mobilised workers to use heavy machinery to clear debris from major roads in order to ensure the expedient transport of relief supplies,state-run Xinhua reported on Monday.

The road traffic to the Himalayan county resumed on Monday.

Xinhua reporters arriving in the county on Monday morning saw dozens of quake victims,wrapped in cotton quilts,camp on street enduring rain and sleet.
