The Central Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India (CSI),the second largest Christian sect in the country after the Roman Catholics,Sunday called the CPMs student wing Students Federation of India (SFI) a gang of street goons.
In a pastoral letter issued in protest against the attack on the CSI-run CMS College in Kottayam,Bishop Thomas Samuel said SFI,a challenge to Christian humanity, should be banned considering its criminal culture.
SFI activists had vandalised the college two weeks ago after its management declined to re-admit a student sacked last year for indiscipline.
SFI president P BIju said the pastoral letter was politically motivated. Believers in CSI would recognise the vested agenda of the Church leadership, he said.
