Shabana Azmi misses ‘It’s A Wonderful After life’ premiere

Shabana Azmi could not attend the star-studded premiere of Gurinder Chadha's 'It's A Wonderful Afterlife'.

Actress Shabana Azmi,who is nursing a fractured foot,could not attend the star-studded premiere of Gurinder Chadha’s new comedy ‘It’s A Wonderful Afterlife’ here.

The London premiere of the film,which was held at Leicester Square on 12 April,will be followed by a regional Birmingham premiere on April 14.

The other cast members along with director Chadha,husband and co-writer for the film Paul Mayedes Berges were present at the event,which was also attended by international actors like Mark Addy,Sanjeev Bhaskar,Zoe Wanamaker,Jimi Mistry,Preeya Kalidas,Sally Hawkins and Juggy D.

The film,which releases in India on May 7,will see Azmi playing the role of an Indian mother desperate to get her daughter married. Her obsession leads her into the world of serial-murder. She tries various methods to trap prospective suitors but when they reject her daughter she takes her revenge by killing them.

Apart from Azmi,the film stars ‘Heroes’ star Sendhil Ramamurthy and Goldy Notay in key roles.
