Former Member of Parliament Shahid Siddiqui also said that Malik has misunderstood what Shah Rukh Khan meant to says. In fact SRK had appreciated the rich and diverse culture of India.

"Shah Rukh's father was a great follower of Mahatma Gandhi and migrated to this country. His family didn't come to India due to any force exerted on it - his father was a freedom fighter. Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari on Tuesday took potshots at Pakistan''s Interior Minister Rehman Malik over his statement that the Indian Government should provide security to actor Shah Rukh Khan, saying it would be better if the former bothers about the internal situation in his country and introspects about the treatment of minorities there.

Tewari said ''the test of a democracy is not how you treat your majority, the test of a democracy is how do you treat your minority''.

"And the UPA Government under the Indian Constitution has endeavoured to treat each citizen and each individual with the same respect, the same equanimity, which the Constitution entitles him to," said Tewari.

"In so far as the Interior Minister of Pakistan is concerned, he would be better served by bothering about the internal situation in Pakistan and really introspecting about the treatment of minorities in Pakistan and see as to what they can do as a state to improve the condition and plight of their own minority," he added.
