In the speech,Shah Rukh Khan spoke about his days of poverty and what those days have taught him.
The controversy regarding Shah Rukh Khan ‘plagiarising’ JK Rowling‘s 2008 Harvard speech at the All India Management Association (AIMA),has taken a new turn.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Chief Digital Strategist,Shailja has come out in defense of the 47-year-old actor on her own blog. She states at the beginning that she was not speaking on the behalf of superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
In the speech,Shah Rukh Khan spoke about his days of poverty and what those days have taught him.
The Chief Digital Strategist says that contrary to the belief,Shah Rukh Khan had duly credited the ‘Harry Potter’ author for using her 2008 Harvard speech.
He also added that Shah Rukh also stated at the beginning of his speech that it was a ‘recycled’ one.
In her 2008 speech JK Rowling had said,”Happiness lies in knowing that life is not a check-list of acquisition or achievement. Your qualifications, your CV,are not your life, though you will meet many people of my age and older who confuse the two. Life is difficult, and complicated, and beyond anyone’s total control, and the humility to know that will enable you to survive its vicissitudes.”
Shah Rukh Khan used the portion in his speech as: … What Rowling so aptly described in her Harvard speech life is a not just a check list of acquisitions attainments and fulfillment. Your qualifications and c.v. dont really matter. Instead life is difficult and complicated and beyond anyones control and the humility to know that by respecting your failures will help you survive its vicissitudes.
Shah Rukh’s Chief Digital Strategist also informed that he reached out to the fan who was present at the YPO and she cited an anecdote,“Mr Khan had made a joke about the word vicissitudes and said jokingly Its J K Rowling,I have problems saying such big words .but did it to impress the smart ones gathered there.
