Riding high on Shailaja’s all-round performance (45 and 4 for 31), Andhra Pradesh eves crushed Chandigarh by 50 runs in the National Junior (U-19) Women’s Cricket Tournament at DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, on Tuesday.
Batting first, Andhra Pradesh posted 179 runs for the loss of five wickets in 40 overs. Y Rukmini top scored with 53 runs, while Shailaja contributed 45 runs. Chasing the target, the Chandigarh eves were dismissed for 129 in 31 overs. The top scorers for the hosts were Lalita (29) and Anita (18). Shailaja wrecked the Chandigarh backbone with some incisive bowling. She returned with a rich haul of 4 for 31.
