Music composer Shamir Tandon, known for films like Page 3, Corporate and Traffic Signal, has been invited by the US Woodwind orchestra, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble to put together a piece that is symbolic of India. For this, Tandon has composed a 15-minute piece that blends together various music genre from across the country, including folk music, raag and Bollywood.
"For performing artistes, it's always a great honour when our works gets appreciated not only in our country, but also abroad. It gives us an opportunity to look beyond the routine and expand our horizons. It was heartening to see a 60- piece woodwind band ensemble playing our composition to a crossover audience," said Tandon.
The orchestra will be travelling to about 30 countries next year, and has invited composers from across the world to compose pieces that are symbolic of their country, for the orchestra to perform.

South Korean music artiste Psy's Gangnam Style has become the most-watched YouTube video of all time after beating pop sensation Justin Bieber's Baby. Gangnam Style has received more than 805,000,000 views since it debuted on YouTube on July 15, whereas Bieber's Baby, at the same time, settled on slightly more than 803,000,000 since its February 2010 release, reported Ace Showbiz.
The 34-year-old rapper's famous horse-riding dance also held another record on YouTube by being the Most Liked video ever posted with more than 5.3 million likes. Both Psy and Bieber, 18, are under the management of Scooter Braun and a collaboration is in plan. "We just made a phone call and I talked to him and said 'Hey, so many people asked did you meet Justin Bieber?' What he told me was he is really good at the dancing, especially the horse dance. So, I'm really looking forward to it," Psy said. PTI
