  • Talking of the next few months, I have just made a list of the test matches and one-day internationals India have played at home since 2005. Of the 90 internationals played in that period, the Eden Gardens has hosted four. It must never be like that. Some grounds, like some cricketers, are special. It is a pity that we seek to equate the Eden Gardens with Jamshedpur, Rajkot, Guwahati, Goa and Vadodara who have hosted an equal number of one-dayers. Kochi has hosted one more and Ahmedabad, courtesy the Champions Trophy, has hosted seven one-day games to go with two Tests. We can’t be serious.

    Pity.

BiasedBy: Satya Dubey | 09-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward Exactly, the mumbai cricket lobby is at work to praise, eulogise and get select a useless batsman called Rohit Sharma. I do not see any talent in him what ever harsha has to say. Harsha seems to be very biased journalist.
Bombay Lobby at work.By: bobby | 06-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward This is classic case of Bombay lobby at work ?Vengsarkar, Gavaskar, Harsha
MiscellaneousBy: Mahek | 04-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward Kolkata hasn't hosted matches because there are plans to renovate that concrete monster.I can understand the frustration with Sharma but why put Yusuf Pathan in the same category? The latter bats at 6 or 7 and is more often than not used as a hitter in the slog overs. There is room for improvement but it's not like he hasn't done well. He was one of the few positives from India's Twenty20 campaign.
Emerging playersBy: Praveen | 04-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward It is a fact Indian players embrace failure more than success. In one match, Rohit succeeded and failed in the next 5-6. You need to show consistency or make way. I am not demanding century or 70s in every single match, but a decent score is always expected. And if you cant, please make way for others, who are knocking on the door. Ishant is another classic example of consistant failure.
EdenBy: Pranesh | 03-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward @ Mr KannanAhmedabad's cricket groung sucks and Eden garden is the world's best. That's why Eden Gardens must have more matches. Im not for Kolkata
