Shekhar Kapoor honoured with AIF award

Shekhar Kapur has been honoured with the American Indian Foundation’s (AIF) cultural leadership award for his commitment in bringing international awareness to social issues in India through his cinema.

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has been honoured with the American Indian Foundation’s (AIF) cultural leadership award for his commitment in bringing international awareness to social issues in India through his cinema.

The Elizabeth director was presented with the award at the 7th Annual Southern California gala,which was attended by celebrities like Mallika Sherawat,Rebecca Hazelwood,Surina Jindal,Diedrich Bader,Pippa Black and entertainment executives.

“Shekhar Kapur has always worked to integrate India into the global economy,long before globalisation became a phenomenon. His advocacy and art have helped to catalyse international commitment,” said AIF trustee Ravi Tilak in a statement.

The annual event raised more than USD 425,000,which will be used in AIF’s innovative microfinance initiative.
