Actor Shiney Ahuja’s bail application was rejected on Wednesday with the sessions court observing that “prima facie evidence was strong enough to make out a case against him”.

Ahuja had moved a bail application claiming he came from a “respectable” family and has been wrongly implicated.

However, the court rejecting his claims observed, “rape is a serious offence and the police investigation is still on.”

Shiney’s lawyer Shrikant Shivade began his arguments claiming that a conspiracy was hatched against Ahuja and said that the victim came from the “lower caste” and was wrongly implicating him.

Shivade had also told the court that Ahuja would stay away from Mumbai and Raigad where the victim hails from till chargesheet is filed.
