Shiv Sena wants action against Patil for ‘leaking info on Kasab’

Demand based on a four-page article by the home minister published in a Marathi magazine.

Shiv Sena MLC Anil Parab has urged Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan to “summarily dismiss” Home Minister R R Patil from the state Cabinet for “leaking details” about slain terrorist Ajmal Kasab’s stay in prison and his burial inside the Yerawada jail in Pune.

Parab has based his demand on a four-page article by the home minister published in a Marathi magazine. The article titled “Operation X” divulges details about Kasab’s violent behaviour inside the barracks, how the state went about his burial inside the jail in Pune and who performed the last rites.

Parab pointed out that Patil failed to abide by the oath of secrecy taken at the time of appointment as minister. “The home minister leaked details about how the prisoners at Yerawada jail dug up three huge pits at different locations for Kasab’s burial,” he said.

“Patil has let out information about the individual who performed the last rites on the terrorist, which was not right,” said Parab.

Refusing to comment on the matter,Patil said: “ I have not seen the Sena leader’s letter to the governor. I am not aware of it. I will not like to comment.”
