  • The WIFW saw models put their best foot forward in flowery sandals, beaded ballerinas and even an aggressive stud shoe

Ashima Leena:There was plenty of colour in designer duo Ashima Leena’s show. From a neon pink to an indigo blue, the models walked in 16 pairs of flip flops, wherein the toe posts featured silk flowers (below). “The shoes were exclusively hand made for the show,” says Leena Singh.

Virtues:It was a clandestine affair for designer Ashish, Viral and Vikrant of the six year old label Virtues who kept their 28 pairs of hand made shoes under wraps until the show. They put their models in dizzying canvas shoes with a conical wooden heel. And the aggression was visible in six pairs of shoes featuring nails (above, right). “I just had to make sure there was enough space while walking,” smiled Anna Volska, a Ukrainian model.

Tarun Tahiliani:The master of drape, paid an equal amount of attention to the shoes as well. The tame tie-on sandal was accentuated with silk flowers and beads in his show

Ritu Beri :Her show was short on couture and long on shoes. The rugged look was paired with knee length boots, with a staid black pointy shoe peeping out.

Small Shop:Their giveaway, a cutesy elbow rest gathered the same amount of adulation from the packed front row. The ballerinas were layered with colourful beads, peeking out from purple trousers and layers of silk.
