The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday asked the CBI to exhume the bodies of the two Shopian women who were allegedly raped and murdered in May.

Shopian District Magistrate Abdul Majeed Khanday, however, left the date and time of the exhumation to the agency.

Sources in the CBI, however, said the investigating agency has decided to exhume the bodies on September 27. The CBI had earlier asked forensic experts whether exhuming the bodies nearly four months on would be useful.

Five doctors from AIIMS, are also arriving in the Valley on Saturday to help with the exhumation. There will be tight security around the graveyard during the process.
