Finally,a shuttle bus service has been arranged to ferry the spectators to and fro Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali during five day-night fixtures of third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket tournament to be played here from March 13 onwards.

Finalising the plan at a special meeting here this evening,Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh Mand said the shuttle buses would connect PCA stadium with City Park in Phase X,Dussehra Ground in Phase VIII and Guru Nanak Colony in Phase XI.

Spacious parking lots would be available at these three points, where the spectators could park their own vehicles and board the shuttle buses to reach the stadium and return back after the game.”Kings XI Punjab franchise owners have been authorised to finalise the number of buses and decide the timings as per match schedules for the shuttle service,” Mand revealed.

However,Kings XI Punjab franchise officials failed to provide any further details despite repeated calls.

With the 35,000-sitting capacity stadium likely to go houseful,as many as 1576 cops would be deployed under the three-tier security arrangements inside and outside the stadium,SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar disclosed.

Air security, more parking lots and free access would be introduced to ensure foolproof security and avoid chaos.

While cops with binoculars would be stationed at rooftops in and around the stadium to keep a close vigil on the overhead security, nine additional parking lots would be earmarked at all sides to accommodate maximum number of vehicles. While outer security ring will look after law and order management at nakas, traffic routes and parking spots, perimeter security ring just outside the stadium will man and patrol the channels and frisking. Inner security ring will be at strategic points within the stadium for effective ground management during matches.
