BJP MPs Kishan Lal Diler and D C Srikantappa, who had reported sick during the UPA Government’s trust vote on July 22, have died since then.
Diler, the BJP MP from Hathras in UP, was admitted to hospital in the Capital after he complained of breathlessness on the day of the trust vote, but was still made to attend Parliament for voting. The MP died of a heart attach in Aligarh on September 3.
“He had complained of cough, cold and breathlessness around the time of the trust vote, that’s why we got him admitted. But, after rumours and speculations about his intentions to abstain on the excuse of medical grounds started floating and even senior BJP leaders started calling up, he decided to attend Parliament and vote,” said Diler’s son-in-law Satpal Chauhan, a doctor at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where the MP was admitted on July 22.
Diler returned to RML after the voting and underwent treatment for nearly a week. “He was a committed leader of the party and the rumours that he might switch over were distressing,” Chauhan told the The Indian Express.
Earlier this month, Diler complained of exhaustion after returning to Aligarh from a meeting in Lucknow. “He was taken to a private nursing home, which did not provide due medical attention before referring him to the district hospital. He died thereafter,” alleged Chauhan.
Another of the sick MPs, D C Srikantappa, who had won the traditional Congress bastion of Chikamangalur for three times for the BJP, passed away on August 4 after a long fight with cancer.
