  • CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat reacted cautiously to the shoe throwing incident involving Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and said there was anger among the Sikh community against Congress giving ticket to a leader allegedly involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

"There is anger among the Sikh community. I have to collect the details", he said when asked about a Sikh journalist hurling a shoe at Chidambaram during a press conference in New Delhi on Tuesday.

"Obviously there is some anger against Congress giving ticket to a Congress leader alleged to have been involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in the national capital," Karat said at a meet-the-press programme.

"I have to find out what really happened before I can make any further comments," he said.
