TO keep a check on female foeticide,city-based VisionIndia Software Exports (VISEL),a company engaged in various e-governance projects,has introduced Silent Observer,a device that will monitor sonography machines and provide analytical reports. VISEL managing director Sunil Umrani told reporters on Thursday the company would facilitate an online F-form reporting system and the Silent Observer device and has approached the district health authorities to implement the same in the district and the state. In spite of the PC- PNDT Act being in place for more than 15 years,the child sex ratio at birth is declining due to lack of effective implementation of the Act. Scanning machines,under reporting,no storage of ultra sonography test reports are the main reasons, said Umrani,citing reasons for the increase in female foeticide cases. With F-Form being mandatory to be filled for each pregnant woman and submitted to district health authorities for each sonography procedure this process is being made available online with www.letherlivenow.com,whereas Silent Observer is a special tamper proof device that is attached to the sonography machine to monitor its use. "It can help the administration and law enforcement agencies in effective implementation of PC&PNDT Act, added Umrani. www.letherlivenow.com (LHLN) is an online F-Form reporting system which digitises all the F-forms filled. This would generate overall statistics of ultra sonography conducted in the state / district. The system also has inbuilt feature that produces various analytical reports and helps in tracking each individual case and also in identifying suspected cases. Silent Observer is an embedded device specifically designed and implemented to address the issue of sex-selective abortion or female foeticide that we face today in our society in urban as well as rural regions, said Narendra K Saini,director (Technical). Silent Observer can also aid doctors against any false claims made against them,he added.
