The achievements of the five-year-old band read impressive. From winning prestigious music competitions like the Yamaha Roxx title and the I-Rock festival in 2008 to even representing the country at the Asian Beat festival in Taiwan, city-based hard-rock band Silver have done it all. And yet when it comes to their debut self-titled album, the five year long wait, according to the members is justified. "We were saving up for the album by doing gigs and concerts. More importantly we wanted someone who understood our music to mix the songs and create an album that lived up to our and our fans expectations," says Amit Godse, drummer of the band. Formed in 2008, Silver consists of vocalist Mahesh Niroula, guitarist and back up vocalist Savio Sebastian, bassist Rishi Rai and drummer and percussionist Amit Godse. The album will be officially launched on September 21 at High Spirits.

It is a double treat for the band, which also released its first music video on September 13. In the five days since its launch, the song has received over 3000 hits on YouTube. Called Funkie Junkie the song is a funk rock number. Since the group wanted minimal post production effects, they shot the song using techniques like half speed, double speed and even reversing and stop block. Basically, the technique is to slow the speed of the vocals and doubling the video speed, or the vocalist sings lines of the songs backwards in sync with the video running backwards. "These are techniques that are not commonly used, because all the work has to be done by the performers. The camera angles are stationary," says Godse.

The experimental-rock album, which began in March and was completed in August, has a total of seven songs along with the video for Funkie Junkie. Shot in studios in Pune, it was mixed entirely in the USA and will be released in stores and online. On the issue of bands taking time to cut their maiden albums Godse mentions that content generation and shooting is not difficult but achieving precision like bands from the West is not easy.
