Former champions Simla Youngs walked off with three points against City Football Club with a 2-1 win at the Ambedkar Stadium hereon Tuesday.

Simla Youngs were quick off the blocks and were sitting pretty with a two-goal cushion over their rivals after only fifteen minutes. But then complacency set in,allowing City FC to rally back. Simla scored the opening goal after City FC custodian Mohsin Khan failed to clear a rising shot from Manoj Chowdhury and the ball trickled past the post.

Six minutes later,Chewle Egware’s angular shot from the left beat Khan all ends up to make it 2-0.

City finally woke up and began testing the Simla defences but bad finishing from their forwards let the team down. Both Lalzarzolien and Olatunde Timuty failed to find the mark from close range. Despite the fight they put up in the second half,City could only score a consolation goal in the 75th minute. Akshay Dutt reduced the margin with a cool finish, but it was too little to late for his team.

Youngs then closed ranks to keep out their rivals from scoring the equaliser.
