Single-screen theatres deny signing Talaash agreement

Just a while back, Yash Raj Films executed an agreement with single screen theatres, asking them to showcase Jab Tak Hai Jaan in the same number of screens as their previous solo release Ek Tha Tiger, though their Diwali release clashed with Ajay Devgn's Son Of Sardaar. Now Reliance Entertainment has chalked out a new strategy for their Aamir Khan- starrer Talaash.

The company, that has bought the distribution rights of this suspense thriller, has decided to enter into an agreement with the single screens asking them to give their film a minimum two-week run. Trade analyst Komal Nahta's posted on Twitter, "Reliance clear in its release strategy. It will not give Talaash to single-screen cinemas unless they give a commitment of minimum two-week run."

While Talaash is set to enjoy a solo release on November 30, the next week sees the release of Akshay Kumar starrer Khiladi 786, which might take up a chunk of Talaash shows at single screens. Manoj Desai, the owner of G7 cinemas, who has slotted three shows of Talaash at Maratha Mandir and four shows at Gaiety cinemas in the first week, says, "I have not signed any agreements. I will run the film depending on its business." While, Parmeshwaran Pillai, manager at Regal cinemas denied receiving any such notification. Trade analyst Amod Mehra observes. "Most of the exhibitors have made it clear that they will run it for two weeks if it is a hit, but they will not give it in writing because they do not want to bullied."
