Singur: Tatas for status quo

Tata Motors counsel Samaraditya Pal approached states Advocate General Anindya Mitra for a workable solution of the Singur issue during the hearing in the Calcutta High Court Friday.

Mitra sought time to decide on the same.

If some legal quarters took it as an offer for an out of the court settlement,a Tata Motors spokesperson clarified: In the light of media reports of distribution of land in Singur,Samaraditya Pal said he requested the Advocate General to agree to status quo as regards distribution of land be maintained in view of the ongoing hearing.

In response the AG said that it is not possible for him to respond right away. He will think it over the weekend and communicate on Monday, the spokesperson added.
