To go by “the usual” is safe and easy. But what is not is to decide on something new. “Specially when it means experimenting with your drinks, but then that’s what adds spice,” says Mahinder Singh, a Food and Beverage Consultant, as he rolls out 10 new drinks at a Bar Festival at Zinc, Sector 26. Starting August 5, “the fest that will culminate on August 9, will offer a unique experience to the city.” He lists the four categories of drinks including Derivatives, Innovatives, Wine Mixology and Mocktails. All, he tells us, have been designed keeping the taste preferences of the city in mind and also the style quotient. “Now-a-days people order drinks according to what is in fashion. For instance, a Patiala peg around here is like a pair of old jeans and wine like a swanky Page 3 attire,” he smiles and lifts a glass of aesthetically done-up Glacier Margarita. “We consume a drink with our eyes first and so it should hold an instant appeal,” he reasons.
With bar performances including fire jugglers, an exotic menu and bar buffet on offer, what will set this one apart is the cocktail education. “My colleague from 003 Bartender Group Jaspal will talk about your drink as you will be given a hands-on experience on making it, which will include cutting of the fresh fruits. To know what you are drinking will increase its charm,” Singh speaks from his experience in the field and from globe-trotting at places including the bars of South Africa, Bahrain and Italy with his company Welgro Group. As to what you should order? “Sour Melon Martini is a must try for the pretty damsels, while Sangria is the tops for the men.” Cheers!
