  • Police beat a protester during a clash in Mangalore. A bandh was called in Mangalore after Hindu activist's stabbing on Monday.

The situation continued to remain tense but under control in the troubled areas of Mangalore where violence erupted after attacks on churches and prayer halls by suspected Hindu activists, police said on Tuesday.

A bandh called by 'Sriram Sena' to protest stabbing of one of its activists on Monday evoked good response in the area as most of the shops, business establishments, schools and colleges remained closed on Tuesday, the police added.

Police are maintaining tight vigil in all the areas and over 50 suspected Bajrang Dal activists have been arrested in connection with the attack in the three districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikmagalur.

On Monday, hundreds of Christians took to streets in parts of Mangalore and Bantwal protesting Sunday's attack on churches and prayer houses over alleged forcible conversions by Missionaries, a charge denied by the Bishop of Mangalore.

Christianity in IndiaBy: Kodimiran Iqbal | 17-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Part 1:( 1 ) Communal riots, butchery, slaughter, persecution, setting fires to the huts of the innocent and poor who have absolutely no share in the communal politics, real vandalism, horrendous atrocities mostly against the minorities in Orissa make Indians put their heads in Shame and spoil the good image of secular India. Will we ever change, trying to forget the past and will we ever become more tolerant? Religious preachers and radicals and fanatics should stop denigrating and demonizing other religions. Arrest and punish the real terrorists to whichever denomination they belong to without pity or favour and execute them within a few weeks by setting up special courts. Do not allow politicians to poke their dirty noses into the process of execution of law and order. Justice delayed is justice denied. Usually a Govt. Commission is set up after the riots. The Commission takes a decade to finalize their report and the Govt takes another decade to enforce it.
Christianity in IndiaBy: Kodimiran Iqbal | 17-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Part 2( 2 ) Incidentally, IS IT NOT A JOKE THAT LIBERHAN COMMISSION SET UP TO INVESTIGATE THE FANATICALLY INSTIGATED TERRORIST DOMOLITION OF BABRI MASJID ON 16TH DECEMBER 1992. GOT THEIR 46TH EXTENSION AND THE WORK IS NOT COMPLETE YET AFTER 16 YEARS? This is part of our proud social justice of India. The delayed justice leads to more violence, more terrorist attacks on soft civilian targets and more personal revenge killings as we had witnessed in Orissa, Gujarat, Bombay and UP in particular but through out India in general.Make use of the army to guarantee security of life and property and bring in law and order.
BABRI MASJIDBy: N.V.SANKARAN | 01-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward The first terrorist was Babur who destroyed the Ram temple at Ayodhya and built the infamous Babri Masjid at the same site. Whether you like it or not, whether you accept it or not, it is a fact that for all the religious minded Hindus, Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi are places as sacred as Mecca
Christianity in IndiaBy: Kodimiran Iqbal | 17-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Part 3( 3 ) I am not confirming or denying the following, however I want the more knowledgeable IE editors to come forward and shed more light on these. What causes religious riots and communal violence is an unanswered question in India in particular and in many other parts of the world in general. Religious leaders should come forward to apologize and sincerely regret the persecutions of their co-religionists that had happened in the past and come forward to forget and forgive. In the case of Indian Christianity, the following questions are pertinent.( a ) Were the Hindus forced to convert after the arrival of Vasco da Gama in 1498? What happened to Zamorin, the Hindu leader, when he met Vasco da Gama? Why was the proposed celebration for the 500th Anniversary of Vasco da Gama’s arrival in India was stopped in India in 1998- bringing together a remarkably surprising alliance of Hindus, Muslims, leftwing campaigners and environmentalists? Christianity in IndiaBy: Kodimiran Iqbal | 17-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Part 4( b ) Francis Xavier, a Jesuit priest came to India after Vasco da Gama. Did he come with a firm resolve of uprooting Hinduism? Read Paul William Robert’s ‘EMPIRE OF THE SOUL: SOME JOURNEYS IN INDIA”.Did Francis Xavier call for an Inquisition recorded by some historians as being more horrendous and barbaric than any prior to that? Despite this, how true is the fact that St. Francis Xavier is still worshipped, prayed and honored as the pure representative of Jesus Christ by Indian Christians? Did the Inquisition in Goa come to a stop only after the British intervention in 1812? Read the Book: “HISTORY OF HINDU, CHRISTIAN ENCOUNTERS” By Sita Ram Goel.( c ) Is it true that the Goans were subject to diabolical tortures : by the Christians, in tens of thousands? Is it true that the Gaur Sarasvata Brahmins fled Goa fleeing the torture of the invading fanatics? If there are truths in these contentions let the descendents of the culprits come forward to ask for forgiveness
Christianity in IndiaBy: Kodimiran Iqbal | 17-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Part 5.( d ) Of course, now the Christian programmes have changed. Now they have the financial resources ( billions of US Dollars generously contributed by the Catholic Churches and US Evangelists ) to spread their religion in the guise of helping the downtrodden, sick and helpless. In reality the real intentions are dubious.( e ) There is no need to abuse, attack or condemn any religion as long as they do not use lies, falsehood, bribe and hypocrisy. The social improvement is a camouflage, but at the same time, this sort of work alleviating the poverty of the really poor and low caste Hindus and the tribes should be taken over by the rich and high caste Hindus and other Hindu Charity groups to prevent unconvincing conversions. Naturally, the real and starving people will go to any extent ( conversion of religions or even prostitution ) to survive and feed their starving children.
