Six held for fraudulent sale of land in Gurgaon

The city police have arrested six persons for allegedly forging documents and selling a 1.5-acre plot,in Badhera village,to a reputed company.

The city police have arrested six persons for allegedly forging documents and selling a 1.5-acre plot,in Badhera village,to a reputed company.

Five of the accused have been identified as Thakur Das,Joginder,Jitendra,Jay Prakash and Pramod — all residents of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. A property dealer was also arrested,while police are on the look out for four more suspects.

According to police,a complaint regarding the fraud was lodged in 2008. The case was transferred to the Economic Offence Wing in May.

“The land belonged to five brothers. The five accused posed as real brothers and forged documents. They sold the land to Reliance in 2008 for its SEZ. The company paid through cheques,which were encashed from a branch of the United Bank of India in Saharanpur,” said Alok Kumar Mittal,Joint CP.

Police officials said one of those arrested is a bank official. He helped forge papers and create fake accounts in the bank to encash the cheques,they added.

Police said the accused sold the plot for Rs 35 lakh. They were presented in a city court that sent them in judicial custody.
