  • Catching future drivers at a young age, Hyundai’s ‘Sketch the i’ saw young students paint their vision on safe driving. And among 140,000 students who participated from across the country, Panchkula’s Utkarsh Singh has impressed all with his idea. In all 52 finalists from different cities were selected for the finals in the national competition and each of them were awarded a prize of Rs 10,000, while the three submissions adjudged the best at the national level have been given an opportunity to visit Korea. “It feels great and I’m very excited to be going to Korea,” says Utkarsh, a Class IX student of Bhawan Vidalaya, Chandigarh.

Talking about his final sketch that was based on the theme ‘go green’, Utkarsh tells, “I focussed on the advantages of hybrid cars which are the future of vehicle technology.” Juxtaposing the present with the future, he drew two opposite situations, one with pollution and the other with happiness courtesy trees and birds. “I wanted to symbolize life, and how we can preserve it through technology,” adds this car and bike lover. Ask him about the trip to Korea and he’s all excited, “all the participants have been given a royal treatment in Korea I hope it to continue. I have never been out of country before.”
