Slice of Ramayana

For most of us, our introduction to fables, mythology and folklore happened with Amar Chitra Katha. Launched by Anant Pai in 1967, these stories were an attempt to teach children about their cultural heritage with the help of comics. Forty-five years on, the legendary comics continue to sustain their popularity. As a mark of celebration, ACK in association with Cartoon Network, will release its first feature film Sons of Ram — Heroes Will Rise. The film, releasing on November 2, is written and directed by Kushal Ruia. It will depict the journey of Ram's sons, Luv and Kush, through the forests, into the land of Ayodhya.

This film will release in four languages — Hindi, English, Tamil and Telegu—across India; with select theatres screening a 3D version. "Sons of Ram will indulge Indian kids and their families like never before," says Ruia, who is also the head of ACK Animation Studios. Singer Sunidhi Chauhan has lent her voice to the character of Sita. Sons of Ram will be accompanied by the screening of a short film by Tinkle, called Shikari Shambu and the Man Eater.
