Mother,actor entrepreneur…Poonam Dhillon’s loving her multi-faceted life

“Many years back,I wanted to be a doctor and I am so fascinated with the profession,that I can call myself a half-baked doc. I keep in touch with the many advancements in medical science,infertility treatments being one of them,as my sister Dr Rishma Pai and her team is doing such a marvellous and miraculous job of creating lives,which gives unbound happiness to many and it’s an endeavour I totally believe in,’’ the beautiful Poonam Dhillon inaugurated the Fortis Bloom IVF Centre today. Coming to Chandigarh,says the actor is always special for there are so many memories attached to the city she grew up and studied in,“we’re planning something unique with the people of the city,but I want it to be a surprise.’’ Associated with NGOs,reading scripts for theatre and films,working on a script…the actor is enjoying the time at hand,“my teenage children keep me engrossed and I believe that I need to give them a lot of time,so I am taking it easy on the work front.’’ This,agrees Poonam is a great time for actors to do roles that they want to,with such a range at hand and multiplexes allowing room for creativity and experimentation. “It’s certainly the best time for women actors and the line between art and mainstream cinema has really blurred,work’s more challenging and absorbing than it was in our time,’’ Poonam is passionate about working behind the camera,but is not really upbeat about television,which she feels is too demanding and strenuous. Going with ther flow is vital,says the actor,who introduced the industry to make-up vans,having travelled and researched extensively to set up a successful business,“it was the need of the hour and I loved doing something unique,’’ Poonam hopes to be soon on stage for a serious role.
