Film buffs, nature-lovers and wildlife enthusiasts have something to look forward to as Foliage Outdoors has organised Ecofest – a unique film festival and competition based on the core theme of wildlife conservation and environmental awareness. The event aims to portray the disastrous effects and scale of environmental degradation along with the probable solutions in a creative and hard-hitting way. Ecofest’09 promises several well-crafted short films that have a fresh perspective on many grave and fundamental environmental issues. A two day event, Ecofest’09 would be held on November 7 and 8 at S M Joshi hall between 6 pm and 9 pm. This year 38 films have been received, out of which six are international entries while seven are animated films. Out of the 38, top 15 films would be short-listed and the best two films would be declared winners. The jury comprises of Umesh Kulkarni, director, Valu, Vilas Kane, wildlife filmmaker and Abhay Ghanekar, naturalist. Winners would be felicitated by eminent naturalist and ornithologist Dr Satish Pande who would be the chief guest for the evening. The event would also showcase some exceptional short films based on nature and wildlife made by renowned filmmakers, including films that have won prestigious awards like the Green Oscars.

Fan and Fanatics
Film crazy fans all over the globe have done crazy things for their favorite stars. There are different ways fans show their affection and craze for their idol. Collecting autographs, picture postcards, film posters, worshipping their idols or building temples are passé now. The new-gen fans are crazier and will go to any length to fulfill their dream. Sony Entertainment Television in association with Yash Raj Films has brought an opportunity to showcase one’s die-hard dedication and love for his/ her ultimate superstar on Mera Sabse Bada Fan Banega Mera Hero! Pune auditions for the show will take place on November 6 at Apeksha Palace, Saswad Road, Fursungi Power House, near flyover, railway gate, Hadapsar between 8 am to 4 pm. During the auditions, fans will have to prove why they think they are the biggest fans of the celebrity. How much the fans adore, admire and worship their hero, what is it that makes them go to all lengths to become a die-hard fan is something they need to showcase during the auditions.
