City teenager Srijan Gupta has won several accolades for his robots. Now,he has been been nominated for the Pogo Amazing Kid Genius award

Robin Williams Bicentiennial Man does not feature on his video library. Neither does I,Robot or the Transformers,but when it comes to the toys,this 13-year-old has his own robotic line-up to show off. Srijan Gupta,who has been nominated for Pogo Amazing Kid Genius award,is certainly not the regular teenager,worried about girls or pimples or the changing pitch of his voice. This is the first such televised award in India.

A Class VII student at St John High School in Sector 26,Gupta is three-time winner of the Indian Robot Olympiad. I won it consecutively in 2007,08 and 09,but lost it this time, he says. The Pogo nomination should make up for the disappointment. It came as a big surprise, adds Gupta.

He is waiting for the results while indulging in heavy tech talk about his line of work. I am fascinated by robots and keep finding ways to better them. My aim and vision is to make a humanoid,a robotic clone of myself,who can perform every task possible for humans, he says.

It was the team at Techntronic India Limited that forwarded his name. It has been possible because of these guys,and my teachers, says Gupta.

Gupta always has his hands full in the techno-charged world,what with representing India at the World Robot Olympiad in countries like Japan and Tawian,participating at the first Lego league held this year in January and winning Smart Move Challenge Robot Design Award and the Champions Award. I love anything that involves mechanical installation,programming and science. It makes me curious to know more and create more, says Gupta as he goes back to his robot which is busy picking up cans and throwing these into the bin.
