Smile Foundation hosts a discussion on 12th Five Year Plan

Smile Foundation organized a “National Consultation of Civil Society Organizations on ‘Adolescents’ Constituency for 12th Five Year Plan” along with NGO’s Swasthya and Chetna.

Smile Foundation organized a “National Consultation of Civil Society Organizations on ‘Adolescents’ Constituency for 12th Five Year Plan” along with NGO’s Swasthya and Chetna.

Speaking on the occasion,Pabitra Banerjee,general manager-programs,Smile Foundation said ,“This is a historic step by Planning Commission in engaging Civil Societies to throw light on the work done by them and making it reach out to the apex authorities. This platform is a great initiative which will surely give more real approach towards the problems faced by the marginalized and also smoothen the much required change.”

As many as 50 organizations from 15 states of India participated in the consultation and the entire proceedings took place in the presence of Planning Commission’s representatives. -Pabitra Banerjee chaired the session of the consultation.

The Planning Commission through such consultations has opened up the process for broader consultation and inputs,particularly with the civil society,one of the steps for the same being development of a civil society approach paper for the 12th Five Year Plan.

In line with its larger objective of working more closely with the civil society,the Planning Commission engaged the civil society groups to get inputs for the approach paper. Planning Commission’s proposal to open up the discussion for approach paper was a huge opportunity for Smile Foundation to work closely with the Government of India ensuring the inclusion of the voices of the socially excluded groups.
