Dr Ravi Chandran wants to embrace his seven-year-old son Aditya and tell him that he loves him, but even after an excruciating wait of two years, he still hasn’t had the opportunity to do so.
“Justice in India is very tough and I haven’t been able to meet Aditya. Yesterday in court when he came with his mother, he asked her if it was ‘Appa’s office’ and he even looked at me and smiled. Aditya is a kid. Why does he have to be dragged around like a criminal and kept in CBI custody?” asked Chandran over the phone from Bangalore.
Aditya was traced by the CBI on Saturday in Chennai along with his NRI mother Vijayasree Voora, who escaped to India with him after her marriage with Chandran, a pharmaceutical scientist in Florida, ended. She did not inform the court or her ex-husband. Chandran then requested India to trace his son, a process which took two years.
Chandran came to the Supreme Court on Tuesday hoping he would get custody of his son, but the matter will now be heard next week. Until then, the child will be kept in CBI custody.
“This is not the justice I wanted. Why can’t I meet my own son?” he asked.
