Son of matka king to be hospitalised for obesity surgery

The special MCOCA court has ordered the jail authorities to admit Hitesh,son of matka king Suresh Bhagat,to Jaslok Hospital for treatment of obesity-related problems.

The accused suffers from obesity problems for which he was operated at the Jaslok Hospital prior to his arrest. Even after the surgery,the food pipe of the accused has to be checked and cleaned periodically. However,the facility for performing the surgery is not available at J J Hospital and the hospital submitted a report to the court on March 14 informing about the same and referring the case to Jaslok hospital.

Dr Sanjay Borude of the Jaslok Hospital who had earlier operated on Hitesh gave a certificate to undergo Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy. The health of the accused has been deteriorating each day and he has not been able to take liquid diet.

After hearing the application,the special MCOCA judge R G Avchat last week directed the jail authorities to move Hitesh to Jaslok Hospital for seven days where he will be operated and then moved to the prison.

Hitesh is presently lodged in Taloja jail after he was shifted from the Arthur Road prison for security reasons. He was arrested for conspiring to commit the murder of his father along with his mother Jaya Bhagat and other accomplices.

On June 13,Suresh Bhagat and six others were murdered in an orchestrated accident on the Alibaug-Pen road near Shahabaz village. A truck had collided head-on with the Scorpio in which they were travelling. Police investigations revealed that a supari of Rs 45 lakh was paid for the murder by wife Jaya and son Hitesh to eliminate Suresh and take over his gambling business worth crores.
